To champion an educational journey where every student discovers their strengths and builds a foundation for success in a global community.
Core Beliefs

KSD believes that:

  • Every student deserves a safe and supportive educational environment.

  • Every student has the right to access both ASL and English.

  • Every student and their family should have the opportunity to engage with and experience Deaf culture while also respecting and appreciating other cultures and language(s).

  • Every student will understand, appreciate, and learn from individuals with cultures, perspectives, and experiences different from their own, fostering an inclusive and enriching community.

  • Every student deserves quality outreach services that engage with families, educators, and communities to provide clear, unbiased information about the unique needs of deaf/heard of hearing students.

  • Every student and their family have the right to education/knowledge about the student's needs, access to available resources, and the opportunity to make the most of programs that support their educational journey and future goals.

  • Every student will develop independence and self-advocacy skills, empowering them to confidently express their needs and make informed choices about their education and future.

  • Every student is empowered to achieve their aspirations as a bilingual or multilingual individual through partnerships with parents and communities.
